About Buffer and its designer

Launched by HUMAN MADE Inc., the new Japanese brand Buffer balances cultural exchange with an affordable 1990s streetwear aesthetic. Designed to bridge generational gaps, the brand acts as a "buffer" to encourage people to slow down and connect in a fast-paced, digital world.

The creative director behind the label is legendary Japanese designer Tetsu Nishiyama (also known as TET). Heavily influenced by his youth culture, the Tokyo-native is best known as the founder of iconic streetwear labels WTAPS and DESCENDANT.

At Buffer, Nishiyama channels nostalgic "school-after-hours" vibes through graphic-driven t-shirts and souvenirs. Guided by a mascot named Buffy the Pink Rabbit, the apparel and accessories are purposefully priced so that high schoolers can afford them, echoing the accessible, foundational days of Ura-Harajuku street culture. The brand made its official debut at the Buffer Store in Tokyo's Shibuya district.
